Aside from being a very cute moment in a very lovely movie, this video features 2 dresses I want.
The two girls directly behind Joseph Gordon Levitt, in the group number. The tealy dress, and the pale blue shirt dress. Want both. Now please.

There is a photo in the official photos, which I have yet to see, but got a sneak peek of on the day, in which my friend Gilly looks like a bridal magazine model. I can not wait to see those photos, but in the mean time, you will have to put up with my awfully amateurish ones.

Gilly is my friend, that I always say I forget how pretty she is. I will go to her house, and she’ll open the door, and I think “oh, that’s right, you’re quite lovely.” Not that when I’m not with her I’m thinking, ‘gosh my friend Gilly is unfortunate’, but she always takes me by surprise.
I said something like this in my speech on the day, but the one thing I could wish for my friends Gillian and Thom is that they always take each other by surprise like that.

When the three of us were leaving the hotel, in all our finery, ready to head to the church, Gillian looked at her two maids, and said “Why am I not more nervous?” To which we replied, “well, it’s great that you are not, etc etc.”
And she said “I’m just really excited to see Thom.”
I mean really? Could you ask for anything more than that?

The key to throwing any successful party is planning. Get everything prepped in advance, and then you can relax and have fun knowing everything is already sorted. Expecially if what you are throwing is a (Love Boat themed) Hens party.
What you want is to make sure The Bride (aka The Captain) is comfortable at all time. A great way to do this is to divide your attendees into teams, give them a budget of $20 and about an hour, and tell them to help you dress the bride.

Hence, the key to being a good Bridesmaid, and keeping all your Hens in a row is: Clipboards.

Cruise Directors: Starboard and Port
And then, to ensure that everyone is completely comfortable, make sure that all attendees look a little ridiculous.

The Crew
We lost a couple of people previous to this photo, but basically: Thanks ladies, we had an awesome night.

* Belated because I was really excited, and I didn’t want to post anything that would give away the plan for the night to The Bride.

So, Nikki is leaving. Which is sad for me, cos I didn’t get to spend nearly as much time with her as I’d have liked. But such is life, and she’s off to Auckland for new and fabulous things. And as a farewell, I promised to Friday Frock her.

So, this week I did something a little different. We’ll get to that in a sec, but first, Can we just all take a moment to pause and drool over this dress?

There’s not much to say about that, except, wow. Also, I can haz that hair colour pls?
Also, this:

Aside from the whole, why is this movie even being made question…Is anyone really going to believe an 80s flashback? Although, having said that, you know Carrie was so wearing that in 1895.
Anyhoo, this week, instead of being nice and charitable, I thought I’d be selfish, so I asked Joanna to make me a Friday Frock. And did she ever.

I asked for an outfit to wear to a wedding in Sydney on New Year’s eve, and she says:
Megan asked me to put together an outfit for her to wear to a wedding in Sydney at New Year’s. I started my collection with a dress she could actually buy, which would look fantastic on her, and then went from there.
Because I am practical, as well as a clutch she gets a proper-sized bag and a change of flat shoes so that she can party all night.
I’m quite flattered that Jo thinks I could wear that dress, let alone look good in it, but I’m almost willing to give it a try. And two handbags! I love two handbags! The last wedding I went to, I also wore two pairs of shoes, but my second pair was pink Havianas, so Jo’s option is much more classy. I love the little jacket, too, and it has in fact featured on this very site before. Jo’s taste is a little bit more colourful than mine, but I love it. Yay, thanks Jo!

The lovely and very talented Sue tweeted this week “Ladies – where is the best place on the internets to buy some lovely long dresses for summer?”
So, I offered to give her the Friday Frock treatment. Apparently she doesn’t like her legs, but has discovered, thanks to Jo, a love of dresses.
I found a lot of great maxi dresses online, but none that matched up with the specifications she gave me (with decent straps and “red, blue, pink, but them i even have an orange and black dress so i’m ok with colour, colour is good”).
And then I found this one, which is great, can be shipped from New Zealand, and is available in two pretty colours. Sue says she likes red, so the red one it is! (Plus, red and orange accesories are fun to shop for.) I think Miss Sue could rock this dress.
I’m not massively sold on the Kate Spade shoes, because I don’t love the raffia-y soles. But for some reason, I couldn’t get these ones to work in Polyvore.
Sue says she loves rings, and wears as many as she can at once, so I gave her a whole cluster. Plus, I think that the Lanvin tulle and pearl one will hopefully inspire her. And by inspire her, I mean make her make one just like it for me.
The bag is just divine, and chosen because I know she liked last week’s bag – and this is just a bigger, more luxe version of it. And slightly more expensive, too. And the necklace is just awesome, and just a little something I found on the internet. You know how it is.
Oh, the sunglasses? Well they will apparently add a “retro fabulous slant” to the ensemble, plus an “enigmatic edge” We all need a little more enigma*, don’t you think?

* Not this kind. Ew.

So, after last week’s frock, Emma told me I could be in charge of dressing her, to which my response was ” Dude, Awesome!”
She told me her preferences are for long line and cleavagey, dark colours – burgundy, purple, forest green, deep blue, etc. I proceeded to ignore that. Well, that part about cleavage for a start. Cos while I found lots of dresses I liked, in those specifications, none of them seemed quite right. Then I found this dress, and I loved it, and it reminded me, for some reason, of Emma. And it turns out burgundy and green accessories? Not that easy. So, purple it is. And while my preference for shoes with this dress, would clearly be beautiful, high heels, (possibly these) Emma is not a shoe girl. So I gave her a pair that not only could she walk in, it would hopefully feel like she wasn’t wearing any shoes at all. Little bit of makeup, a very cool bag, and an awesome cuff, and she’s good to go. So, where is she going? Well, when I asked the lady herself if she’d like the fantasy or reality outfit, she replied “ Reality is so dull…” Indeed it is. So this is her outfit, for my wedding. Which, as you can tell, is going to be a very formal affair.

Emily introduced me to this chick today, and she is awesome, and I love this song (I have basically listened to this, and another of hers on repeat this morning).
What I also love? The red dress in the video.
Oh, and there’s pretty dresses in this one too. Good music, pretty dresses, and a hot ginger. Squeee!
